  Gabrielle Palermo graduated from Mars Area High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh, completing her undergrad in Criminology. She continued her education to receive her Masters in the Art of Teaching. After completing her Masters, she became a Behavior Specialist Consultant for several wraparound companies.   Gabrielle Palermo graduated from Mars Area High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh, completing her undergrad in Criminology. She continued her education to receive her Masters in the Art of Teaching. After completing her Masters, she became a Behavior Specialist Consultant for several wraparound companies. In 2013, she completed all her trainings and clinical hours to become a State Licensed Behavior Specialist. She then co-founded STEMsteps in 2015. She was the lead Kindergarten/K-Prep teacher for several years, until moving to full time director. She has been the lead director since 2022.

Caroline received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University and has over fifteen years of teaching experience. She has taught a variety of age levels, ranging from preschool children to adults. However, educating the “little learners” is truly her passion. Caroline married her high school sweetheart and currently resides in Cranberry Township with her three children. She enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new recipes. She is dedicated to providing a warm and welcoming environment in the classroom and is eager to help instill the love of learning through exploration and discovery.

Tammy originally hails from Cleveland, Ohio.  She earned a bachelor of arts in English Literature from The Ohio State University and her Elementary Education degree from John Carroll University.  She has over 20 years of experience teaching children from Pre-K through 8th grade.  Tammy and her husband recently moved to Gibsonia and are gl

Tammy originally hails from Cleveland, Ohio.  She earned a bachelor of arts in English Literature from The Ohio State University and her Elementary Education degree from John Carroll University.  She has over 20 years of experience teaching children from Pre-K through 8th grade.  Tammy and her husband recently moved to Gibsonia and are gladly taking restaurant and walking path recommendations.  She loves reading and spending time with her cat, Vincent, her niece and nephew and her husband.  She is looking forward to becoming a part of the STEMsteps family and getting to know the children and their families.

She started at STEMsteps in 2020 as our chef and room assistant. She quickly fell in love with teaching and working with children. Alexis likes to incorporate her love for nature and exploration int

 Sherri received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has over 17 years of Pre-K/Kindergarten teaching experience. Sherri has also spent time as a private school director and assisstant director. As an educator, Sherri makes it her mission to stimulate and guide learning with a variety of developmentally appropriate and creative approaches to support each student as an individual. Sherri also believes that children learn best by exploring, discovering, questioning and creating through hands-on, open-ended experiences and play. Sherri lives in Treesdale with her husband and has three adult children. Sherri enjoys spending time reading, walking her dog, and traveling to the beach.

Both she and her husband grew up in Erie, and after traveling to se

 Carolyn has been an Early childhood professional for over 30 years, spending time with all ages from infants to eighth grade. She has spent most of career in preschool and Kindergarten, her favorite age groups. She received her degree in Early Childhood Education at IUP. Both she and her husband grew up in Erie, and after traveling to several states through her husband’s job, they settled in Pittsburgh about nine years ago. Carolyn is an avid gardener and enjoys cooking for her son and husband, walking with her dog, Matilda, and backyard bird watching. Carolyn is excited to join the STEM Steps team and can’t wait to enjoy new learning adventures with her students.

 Tanya is the assistant in the Kindergarten classroom. She is originally from Ottawa, ON, Canada, and holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Algonquin College. She has been a teaching assistant for 12 years, and has also helped children develop a love of the French language by teaching French over the last 8. She enjoys reading
